The forthcoming local government election in Kwara State is throwing up varying permutations, with scheming for the 2019 general elections playing prominent role in determining the stand of stakeholders, Fresh Insight Newspaper can authoritatively report.

Prominent among the LGs is Ekiti local government area of the State, with three leading aspirants vying for the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The leading Aspirants include, Hon. Sayo Amos (a serving Special Adviser on Forestry to the State Governor), a Youth activist Com. Yinka Dallas and Chief R.O Dada.

It was reliably gathered that the directive of the Leader of the Party in the State, Dr. Bukola Saraki that there should be no imposition, stressing that candidates must emerge through primaries.

According to an impeccable party source, the directive have been flagrantly flouted by some stakeholders in Ekiti LG.

She said “The Prominent flouters of Leader’s directive are; a member of the Kwara State House of Assembly Hon. Ebun-Owolabi, the immediate past local government Chairman of Ekiti LG, Hon. Akintoba Fatigun, the Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Hon. Leke Ogungbe who are all eyeing the Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Irepodun/Isin House of Reps ticket come 2019.

“Between 10am-12:15pm today (Wednesday) the stakeholders of Ekiti LG held a consensus building meeting at Hon. Ebun-Owolabi’s House in Ilorin. The meeting was aimed arriving at a consensus candidate for the party.

“Some of those in attendance at the meeting include Hon. Cicilia Ore, Akintoba Fatigun, Ebun-Owolabi, C.T Ayeni, Chief Bamisaye, Leke Ogungbe, Otunba Taiwo Joseph, Eli Isapa, Reuben Ajayi, Bode Ogunleye among others” she added

According to another source who was also in attendance, She said “From what I observed, virtually all the Chairmanship Aspirants are pawn in the chess game of House of Reps Aspirants in the LG, like Hon. Ebun-Owolabi, Akintoba Fatigun and Leke Ogungbe.

“While Ebun-Owolabi and Chief Bamisaye (former Commissioner for Environment ) are supporting Chief R.O Dada, Akintoba Fatigun and Leke Ogungbe are solidly behind Amos Sayo, Otunba Taiwo Joseph, C.T Ayeni and all former Chairmen of the LG like Chief Gbadeyan, Hon CB Ore, Hon. Dele Abiodun, Hon. Anjorin, Hon. Olaiya Bello, Hon Bukky Abel are all in support of Comrade Yinka Dallas, who is arguably the most popular candidate.

“The attempt to force one of the 2 Aspirants from Koro (Dada and Sayo) to step down at the meeting proved abortive, as the stakeholders sponsoring both stood their ground” she added.

Meanwhile attempts are in top gear to force, Com. Yinka Dallas to step down owing to the scheming of some of the stakeholders in the LG who had allegedly zoned the Chairmanship position to Koro, with the Deputy Chief of Staff government House, Hon. Leke Ogungbe saddled with the responsibility of convincing Dallas.

The arrow head of the group is said to be Bode Ogunleye from Obbo, who is rumoured to be eyeing the House of Assembly seat of the LG come 2019, with a calculation that once Dallas from Isapa emerges the LG Chair, his ambition is as good as dead
