Eid: Kwara speaker urges strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, has advised Muslim faithfuls to adhere strictly to the lockdown directives targeted at flattening the curve of the novel coronavirus pandemic in the state.

He enjoined Kwarans to “ensure modest celebration and observe the 2-rakat eid prayer, marking the end of Ramadan in their homes”.

Danladi, in a statement by his spokesperson, Ibrahim Sheriff, gave the advice while congratulating Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration on Saturday in Ilorin.

The statement read, “I felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters, as we celebrate yet another Eid-il-Fitr on the surface of earth. I urge us all to abide by the teachings of the holy month of Ramadan beyond the sacred month.

“The humanity, sacrifice, perseverance and faithfulness to our Creator we demonstrated to Almighty Allah should not be thrown into the wind. Let us continue to care for one another, pray for our nation and the world.

“It is my prayer that Allah accept our acts of worship in the holy month and may the blessings inherent in the festivity endure.”
