Malam Dikko Umar Radda, the governor of Katsina State, has declared Friday, 12th April 2024, a work-free day in addition to the three-day public holiday declared by the federal government.
This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the state commissioner of information and Culture, Dr Bala Salisu Zango.
“Katsina State Government decision to declare Friday as a free day follow the good gesture of Federal Government for extending Ed-fitr public holidays to Thursday 11th of this month,” the statement read in part.
The statement added that the governor had taken the step to enable workers in the state to fully enjoy the ED-ELFITR Sallah celebration with their families while wishing the good people of Katsina state a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration.
He further urged people to be security conscious and pray for peace to reign in the state and the nation at large as they celebrate this year’s Sallah.
Recall that the federal government had earlier declared a two-day public holiday for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and had to extend a third day due to the lack of sighting of the moon of Shawwal, taking the holiday to Thursday.
