EFCC, PCC pledge united efforts against corruption and injustice

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) have agreed to deepen their partnership to combat corruption and social injustice in Nigeria.

The commitment, as announced on the official X page of the EFCC, was reaffirmed on Thursday, October 24, 2024, during a meeting between the PCC Kwara Commissioner, Barrister Falola Olanrewaju, and Harry Erin, the Zonal Director of the EFCC’s Ilorin office.

In his remarks, Falola emphasized the PCC’s mission to address social and administrative injustices through dialogue.

“The PCC is a grievance-handling body with a focus on conciliation. We aim to strengthen our cooperation with the EFCC, especially in areas like information sharing, case referrals, and staff training,” he stated.

Falola expressed gratitude for the EFCC’s support, especially in sharing information and transferring relevant cases, saying it would help the anti-corruption agency fulfill its mandate.

Responding, Harry Erin emphasized the EFCC’s commitment to collaborating with other agencies.

He shared that the EFCC, under its Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, is committed to fighting corruption head-on.

“Cooperation is part of our strategic plan,” Erin said. “We are fighting a full-scale war against corruption, and we’re ready to work with all relevant stakeholders to protect Nigeria and its people.”

The Zonal Director also pointed out that government agencies cannot succeed in isolation, given the complex nature of corruption.

“Corruption today involves sophisticated tactics. We must work together to protect the interests of our nation,” Erin added.

In closing, Erin urged the PCC to join the fight against corruption and promote unity and peace across Nigeria.
