Education minister, Emeka Nwajiuba resigns
A presidential aspirant, on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Emeka Nwajiuba, has tendered the resignation of his appointment as the Minister of State for Education.
Nwajiuba, who’s pursuing the ambition of becoming the next president on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, resigned his appointment, Wednesday in Abuja.
The spokesperson of the president, Garba Shehu, confirmed the development to newsmen.
The announcement came shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari instructed his appointees pursuing any elective position to drop their resignation letters.
Recall that President Buhari had made this order while presiding over the weekly FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
This directive does not affect the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, as he is an elected member of the cabinet.
Ministers affected are Timipre Sylva (Petroleum Resources – State, Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation), Ogbonnaya Onu (Science, Technology, and Innovation), Chris Ngige (Labour and Employment), Emeka Nwajiuba (Education – State), and Godswill Akpabio (Niger Delta Affairs).
The above listed ministers are presidential aspirants and have picked the presidential forms of the ruling party.
Others affected are Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Uche Ogar and Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami who are Abia and Kebbi guber aspirants respectively.
Also, Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has declared interest to contest for a senatorial seat in Plateau State.
