Edo massacre: Kano Police deny rumors of attack on Igbo passengers

In the aftermath of the tragic killings of 16 northern travelers, the Kano State Police Command has actively addressed the circulating rumors of a reported attack on an 18-seater bus carrying Igbo passengers in Kano.

SP Abdullahi Haruna, the spokesperson for the command, labeled the viral news as entirely false and misleading. He emphasized that the police have launched an investigation to identify the sources and masterminds behind this misinformation.

“The Kano State Police Command wishes to inform the public that the viral news circulating on social media regarding an attack on an 18-seater bus carrying Igbo passengers in Kano is entirely false and misleading,” SP Haruna stated.

He urged the community to disregard the fake news and to refrain from sharing unverified information, which can incite panic and disrupt the peace.

“We appeal to the public to work together with the police and report any suspicious activities or individuals spreading false information to the nearest police station or through our emergency numbers,” he added.

The Kano State Police Command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, regardless of their ethnic or religious backgrounds, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining law and order in the state.
