Dumped newborn baby found dead in Ilorin
A newborn baby was, today, found dead in Ilorin, Kwara state.
The one day old baby was found along Unity road by the Kwara State Fire Service while carting away refuse on Asa river bank to allow free flow of water and forestall flooding in the area.
The Permenent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Transport is said to have notified the PRO, State Police Command, DPO ‘A’ Division, Ministry of Environment and DPM for evacuation and burial.
The Ministry consequently appealed to residents to stop dumping refuse into the river to forestall flooding.
Efforts to get the police to react to the story were not successful as calls put across to the mobile telephone of the Kwara Police Public Relations Officer, Dsp Ajayi Okasanmi indicate his number is switched off.
