Doping Officer for Nigeria vs Ghana’s clash buried amid tears in Zambia
The FIFA/CAF Doping officer in charge of the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Black Stars of Ghana second leg World cup qualifiers in Abuja, Dr. Joseph Kabungo has been laid to rest in Zambia on Thursday.
The Informant247 recalls that Dr. Kabungo reportedly died from cardiac arrest after the game in Abuja.
Reports say hundreds of Zambians on Thursday gathered at the Woodlands Stadium to pay their last respect to CAF/FIFA anti-doping medical officer.
Dr. Kabungo, who was the team Doctor for the Chipolopolo boys when they won the Africa cup in 2012 is reputed to be an experienced medical personnel with a rich attachment to football.
While his death earlier generated a lot of controversies, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had cleared the air on the reports which suggested that the Doctor was stampeded by the fans who vandalized facilities at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja after the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for World Cup.
