Domestic dispute turns deadly as man stabs wife in Ogun
A man known as Oju has allegedly stabbed his wife, Josephine Isaac, several times, leading to her death after a heated argument at their home in Agbure community, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area, Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday. She said Josephine’s younger sister, Blessing Isaac, reported the case at the Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters around 9:30 a.m.
According to Odutola, the argument between the couple turned violent at about 1:00 a.m. Oju then allegedly stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife.
“After realising the seriousness of her injuries and seeing her bleeding heavily, the suspect ran away, leaving her behind,” Odutola said.
Neighbours rushed Josephine to Ibiade General Hospital, but she was pronounced dead by doctors.
Police officers from Abigi Division visited the crime scene, gathered evidence, and took Josephine’s body to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Odutola assured the public that investigations are ongoing to arrest Oju and bring him to justice.
She also urged residents to settle disputes peacefully and report any suspected domestic abuse to the police.
