Deposed Emir of Kano Ado Bayero invites district heads to durbar celebration
The recently dethroned 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has invited district heads to a traditional durbar event in commemoration of Sallah.
The announcement was made in a circular signed by Alhaji Abbas Sanusi, Galadiman Kano, on Tuesday.
The circular, dated June 10, 2024, directed all district heads of the emirate to attend the event with their village heads, horse riders, and praise singers.
“We are directing all the district heads of the emirate to come along with their village head, their horse riders and praise singer for the festivities,” it read.
The district heads were instructed to converge at Aminu Ado Bayero’s palace at Gidan Nassarawa on Saturday, June 15, at 11 a.m. for further directives.
The circular also mentioned that local government chairmen had been informed to aid the smooth transportation of district heads into Kano metropolis.
However, seven out of the eight district heads in Kano emirate have publicly pledged allegiance to Emir Sanusi, who succeeded Bayero.
The local government chairmen, who were informed of the development, belong to the NNPP government that dethroned Bayero and have also pledged allegiance to Emir Sanusi.
It remains unclear whether the district heads will respond to Ado Bayero’s call or side with Emir Sanusi and the Kano state government.
