Delta Senator demands strong action against staged kidnappings
Senator Ned Nwoko has called on security agencies to enforce strict penalties for individuals involved in staged kidnappings, emphasizing the need for accountability in such deceptive acts.
Representing Delta North Senatorial District, Nwoko expressed his concerns in a statement released on Thursday in Abuja, highlighting the alarming increase in instances of staged kidnappings in recent times.
He stated, “Making culprits face the full weight of the law would send a clear message that such deceit has no place in Nigerian society.” This statement follows a distress call he received regarding a young man allegedly abducted, which later turned out to be a hoax when investigations revealed that he had staged his own kidnapping.
“This is a reckless and criminal act, alien to the values of our people in Delta North, and it must not be allowed to take root,” Nwoko added. He further noted that staged kidnappings not only torment families but also utilize valuable security resources, undermine public trust, and belittle the struggles of genuine victims.
In conclusion, he reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety and peace of communities within his constituency, alongside supporting local security agencies in their efforts.
