Customs intercept smugglers, seize rice worth N22m in Kwara – The Informant247
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Strike Force in Zone B, Kwara State axis, has intercepted smugglers and seized 513 bags of foreign parboiled rice worth N22 million at Jeunkunnu-Malete in Moro local government area of the State.
The coordinator of the Strike Force in Zone ‘B’ comprising Kaduna and Kwara States, Deputy Comptroller Olorukooba Aliyu made this known while addressing the journalists in Ilorin.
Aliyu said the seizures were made possible due to the collective efforts of the personnel of Kwara State Area Command and the commitment of men and officers of the Service in the zone.
He stressed that a team of officers dispatched to the area intercepted two Toyota Canter fully loaded with bags of foreign rice and a large quantity of foreign parboiled rice yet to be loaded into vehicles. Aliyu explained that the officers acted based on an intelligence report of the activities of economic saboteurs on Jeunkunnu-Malete and Bani axis of Kwara state.
He commended the resilience of the officers who have ensured that all the seized items were moved to the Command headquarters in Ilorin. He appreciated the Kwara Area Command, the Joint Border Patrol Team (JBPT), Customs Police, the Comptroller General of Customs, and his management team for their selfless and tireless services rendered.
