COVID-19: Saliu Mustapha Foundation commends Gov. AbdulRazaq, Emir of Ilorin over proactive measure

…urges Kwarans to cooperate with government

The founder of a charity organisation, Saliu Mustapha Foundation, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has spoken in glowing terms on the lockdown directive issued by the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to proactively preempt the outbreak of the Corona Virus taking a death toll on the Nigerian populace.

According to the astute philanthropist, the partial lockdown became imperative to control the spread of COVID-19 which has seen Nigeria record fifty-one cases as at today with Lagos State and Abuja topping the list of affected states in the country.

The Community Developer is in agreement with the government that the best way to curtail the virus is to maintain personal hygiene and environmental sanitation and most importantly to guard all entry points into the state to ensure that Corona Virus is not transported into Kwara State because COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria thus far were imported from other countries.

Mallam Saliu Mustapha equally gave kudos to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Council of Chief, Dr Ibrahim Zulu-Gambari as well as other religious leaders for taking the bull by the horn to order close down of mosques and churches to prevent COVID-19 which can spread when people gather to worship God, as it would be difficult to maintain social distance.

The former Governorship aspirant, however stressed that the imposition of lockdown is for the well-being and safety of all kwarans.

Mallam Saliu Mutapha also urged kwarans to religiously adhere to all the preventive measures and sensitisation materials in the media space – such as frequent washing of hands with soap and water, avoidance of all social gatherings, maintaining social distancing especially with anyone showing symptoms of the disease, using of elbow to cover mouth when coughing and sneezing among others.

He specifically appealed to people of kwara to cooperate with government’s directives by staying at home, protect themselves and their family members and avoid social gatherings at all cost.

The Gambari born politician concluded by calling for calmness and prayer to Almighty Allah who he said, has the power to heal the world, Nigeria and protect Kwara State from the pandemic of COVID-19.
