Covid-19: Kwara Govt clears air on 92 fresh cases

…says NCDC only announces aggregate figure

The Kwara state government has maintained in a clear term that the state did not record any 92 new cases of Covid-19 as it was mischievously transmitted across some social media platforms.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye made this declaration in a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Wednesday, noting that the figure given by the National Center for Disease Control, NCDC is a summation of the earlier discovered cases of 71 and the last confirmed cases of 21 reported last night by the state government, taking the total to 92 cases.

He stressed that NCDC announcement should not be misconceived.

In his reaction to the misleading information, Ajakaye said “92 cases of Covid-19 infections reported by NCDC is a cumulative figure of the previous 71 cases and the 21 reported by KWSG last night, so KWARA DOES NOT record any fresh 92 cases of Covid-19. ”

The CPS, therefore reiterated that the 422 aggregate number of infected patients as announced by NCDC and Kwara state government is sacrosanct.

“When you look at the total number of infected patients in the figure released by Kwara state government last night, you will find out that it tallies with the total number of figure given by NCDC also”, Mr. Rafiu said.

Mallam Rafiu, further revealed that the Kwara state government announces new covid-19 test results ahead of the NCDC, because the NCDC test results are often delayed because it deals with the 36 states including the Federal Capital Territory. But each state deals with lesser samples.
