Court will determine Nnamdi Kanu’s fate, Buhari insists

President Muhammadu Buhari has maintained his stance that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, must proceed to court and defend himself.

The president reportedly said this while reacting to south eastern leaders’ appeals for the release of the detained IPOB leader.

It was reported that the South Eastern leaders made the appeal while having a Town Hall meeting with the president in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state capital, on Friday.

Recall that the president was on a two day working visit to the state.

“I have listened carefully to the various appeals from the elders to the traditional leaders regarding wide range of options.

“As I have said previously this matter remains in the full purview of the courts where it will be properly adjudicated.

“My worry is for our hardworking and innocent civilians, for whom life is already tough and would like to earn a decent and honest living”, Buhari said.

He condemned the uncivilized activities of IPOB in the country.

The president reaffirmed his desire to continue to safeguard innocent citizens from those who are capable of invading their rights to life.

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State, commended the president for visiting the state, reaffirming his position for possible political solution to the Nnamdi Kanu saga.

While speaking on his presidential ambition, the governor said he was optimistic that the president would solidarize with the Southeast Presidency in 2023.
