Court suspends Nnamdi Kanu’s terrorism trial indefinitely

An Abuja Federal High Court on Monday suspended the case of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu till further notice, pending the result of the appeal at the Supreme Court.

The federal government had championed an appeal to challenge the decision of the Appeal Court on October 13, which discharged the IPOB leader of remaining charges instituted against him.

But while his case was revisited on Monday, Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, backed the position of Kanu’s legal team that the court has not jurisdiction to revisit the charges leveled against him, saying the judgments of the Appeal Court which recently discharged him still stands.

While expressing his views on the development through his verified Facebook page, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a member of the legal team of the IPOB leader wrote: “We are winning! Supreme Court here we come!

“No going back on Onyedu’s freedom.

“Our appeal to set aside the order staying the execution of Onyendu’s judgment will be fixed for hearing any moment from now.

“We shall keep you all posted.

“ChukwuOkike Abiama is always on the throne.
