Court sentences security guard to 10 months imprisonment for stealing Apple MacBook

A 25-year-old security guard, David Gwamna, has been sentenced to ten months imprisonment, for stealing an Apple MacBook worth N500,000.

Gwamna, who was dragged Grade I Area Court, Dei-Dei Shagari Quarters, Abuja, on Wednesday pleaded guilty to theft and begged for leniency.

The Judge, Sulyman Ola, however, gave the convict an option to pay a fine of N40,000 and warned him to desist from committing crimes.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Chinedu Ogada told the court that the complainant, Mr Odewu Rawyand reported the matter at the Dawaki Divisional Police headquarters in Abuja on Jan. 24

Ogada said the convict was employed as a security guard, in Dawu Enterprise Nigeria Litd., Abuja.

He stated that during police interrogation and investigation, the convict confessed to the crime and all effort made to recover the laptop from him prove abortive

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
