Court remands teacher who allegedly rape 12-yr-old girl in Kwara

The Kwara State family court, presided over by magistrate Shade Lawal, Wednesday, remanded one Ahmed Yusuf, in the Correctional Service Centre for allegedly had unlawful intercourse with a 12 years girl.

Yusuf, a Kwara State civil servant, was dragged to court for the offence of sexual abuse and exploitation of a child contrary to section 32 of Kwara State child right law.

Police report revealed that mother of the victim discovered a stain of blood on her daughter’s bed, the development that prompted her into calling her husband on phone.

The innocent girl was said to have confessed to her parents after being questioned that it was Yusuf, (their tenant), who had sexual intercourse with her and threatened her against telling anyone.

Investigation conducted at State Anti Human Trafficking Women and Children Protection Unit stated that Yusuf has been having illicit affairs with the innocent girl for the past six months.

Medical report obtained at the Police Training School, Ilorin, showed that the hymen of the victim was absent.

The Prosecutor, Akinjide Adisa, in his submission, urged the court to remand the perpetrator on the basis that his offence is not ordinarily bailable.

Magistrate Lawal, in his ruling ceded to the submission of the prosecutor and ordered his remand in Oke Kura custody while the matter was adjourned to 20th of next month.
