Court remands 2 for allegedly using knife to rob in Ilorin

Luck ran out of two suspected motorcycle robbers, Akeem Lekan and Tunji Oladeji, who were nabbed by members of Lasoju village, a community in Agbejila area, Ilorin, when they attempted to rob one Abdulqudus Olamilekan of his Bajaj motorcycle, popularly called Okada.
The suspects were arraigned before Magistrate Muhammed Kola Aluko by the police for ‘Criminal Conspiracy and attempted armed robbery contrary to section 6(b) and 2(1) of robbery and firearms (Special Provision) Act cap R11 LFN 2004.
Police First Information Report (FIR) revealed that the suspects stopped the victim (Olamilekan) along airport area, Ilorin, and asked him to convey them to Eiyenkorin, also in Ilorin.
The due reportedly further asked the Olamilekan to take them to Lasoju village when they got to Eiyenkorin.
While on the way, the suspects allegedly slapped the victim and brought out a knife in an attempt to stab him and snatch his Bajaj motorcycle.
In a bid to save his life and the motorcycle, from been stolen, Olamilekan raised an alarm which led to the arrest of the suspects.
The prosecutor, Abdulwasiu Mukadam, in his submission, prayed the court to order the remand of the suspects in the correctional facility.
He said the offense of robbery is not ordinarily bailable, urging the court to allow the law to take its full course over the matter.
Magistrate Aluko, however, ceded to the prayer of the prosecutor, ordering the remand of the suspects in the Federal Correctional Service while the case was adjourned to 29th June, 2021.
