A magistrate court, sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, remanded a 20-year-old farmer, Bashiru Kosi, in the Correctional Service Centre for allegedly causing the death of his uncle, one Koku Sambeni at Gwaria village in Kaima.
Police report revealed that Kosi was walking behind his uncle along a bush path, hanging on his shoulder, a loaded locally made dane gun belonging to his uncle.
His hoe reportedly fell down and in an attempt to take it, the gun discharged accidentally and hit his uncle Sambeni who was walking ahead of him.
The prosecutor, Abubakar Issa, prayed the court to remand the culprit on the basis that life is involved in the case and police investigation into the matter is still ongoing.
Magistrate Marriam Bimbo Folorunsho, who presided over the matter, ordered the remand of the culprit in the Correctional Service Centre while the matter was adjourned to 11th March, 2021.
