Community leader, vigilantes arrested for allegedly torturing Unilorin graduate to death
A community leader and some vigilantes have been arrested for allegedly torturing a University of Ilorin graduate, Lanre Adebayo, to death in Ilorin.
The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the arrest of five men, including a community chairman and two local security guards, who are suspected to be involved in the death of the 46-year-old Political Science graduate.
The incident took place on Monday, October 21, 2024, in the Ita-Elepa area of Ilorin West Local Government.
Reports say Adebayo had a heated argument with the vigilantes while on his way home, which later turned violent. Sadly, this led to his death.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the command has arrested the suspects and started an investigation into the case.
