CJN to swear in 23 new federal high court judges Oct 4
A total of 23 newly appointed judges of the Federal High Court are scheduled to take their oath of office on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
The solemn ceremony will be presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and will take place in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
In a statement released on Sunday by Dr. Festus Akande, the Director of Information for the court, the names of the newly appointed judges were listed as follows: Dipeolu Deinde Isaac from Ogun State; Ogundare Kehinde Olayiwola from Ekiti State; Agbaje Olufunmilola Adetutu from Lagos State; Musa Kakaki from Kaduna State; Abdullahi Muhammad Dan-Ige from Sokoto State; and Sharon Tanko Ishaya from Kebbi State, among others.
The statement also announced a valedictory court session in memory of the late Justice Chima Centus Nweze, scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
This session will be held at the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court. Justice Nweze passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Abuja, after a brief illness at the age of 64.
The valedictory session, a customary practice, will be presided over by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
It will include tributes presented by the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, as a mark of respect for the departed jurist.
