CELF 2020: Oloriegbe fulfils pledge, pays tuition fees of outstanding fellows from Kwara Central
The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, Dr. Yahaya Ibrahim Oloriegbe, has fulfilled his pledge by paying the tuition, accommodation fees and miscellaneous expenses of three most outstanding Fellows of the 2020 Countryside Emerging Leaders Fellowship (CELF).
It would be recalled that Isiaq Fasilat Omowumi from Senior Secondary School, Opolo (Ilorin South), Odetundun Christiana from ASA Local Government Secondary School (Asa) and Abdulwahab Abdulwasiu from Banni Community Secondary School (Ilorin West) all from Kwara Central Senatorial District had emerged as outstanding Fellows having scored 63, 61 and 61 points respectively.
The Fellows who were examined on community-related activities, as well as the training, received while on the Camp were among the thirty-two young Kwarans who were selected across all the sixteen local government areas of Kwara State.
In a statement released by the CELF Publicity Secretary, Saadudeen AbdulRasheed, the convener of CELF, Mr. Lawal Olohungbebe, on behalf of the Haashim Initiative for Community Advancement (HICA), Hannis Institute for Development Studies (HIDS), and other partners, confirmed that Senator Oloriegbe has fulfilled his promise on the scholarship awarded to the three Fellows who are from his senatorial district.
Olohungbebe added that the Senator had released funds for the payment of all the expenses incurred by the beneficiaries for 2020/2021 academic session.
He described the gesture as capable of having a far-reaching impact on empowering young people from rural areas, stressing that the scholarships would afford the beneficiaries the opportunity to study courses of their choice in public institutions of higher learning.
The convener, however, thanked the Senator for his support towards grassroots development and assured him that the funds would be judiciously used for the purpose which it was meant for.
