Campaigns, cheering of politicians won’t be tolerated on Eid prayer ground – Kwara Police
Kwara State Police Command has warned people of the state to refrain from campaigning for and cheering politicians on the Eid prayer ground in the state.
The police command has said these acts would not be tolerated on the prayer ground.
Remember that the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and Vigilantes Group of Nigeria, VGN mobilized over 6,000 officers to ensure a violent free celebration and safety of the people.
The spokesperson of the police in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi said: “I cannot give you the exact figure because we’re deploying all our officers in the special tactical units, comprising the Force Animal Branch, Mounted troop, Police Mobile Force, anti Kidnapping, anti-cultism, Explosive Ordinance Department and men of the Command’s intelligence unit.
“Political campaigns, hailing political gladiators, and shouting of party slogans, would not be accepted on the praying arena.”
Kwara Vigilante narrated that 4,000 of their men have been mobilized for the successful celebration of Eid across the state.
The Command leader, Saka Ibrahim, said 1000 vigilantes are to man Ilorin metropolis while 200 officers each would be deployed in other local governments.
The NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, said 800 of his officers would be mobilized for the Eid celebration.
Head of Operations, Mr Lucas Oguntade, FRSC in the state said 500 men of the corps are already mobilized for the celebration.
