President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the attack launched on Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, the Senator representing Anambra South District in Anambra State.

The Nigerian president has described the armed shooting of the convoy of the lawmaker as “barbaric and condemnable.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu, made this revelation via a statement on Wednesday.

The Nigerian leader said, “We are deeply concerned about the activities of armed groups in the region and in other parts of the country. We are closely monitoring the situation and waiting for further details on the response to the worrisome situation by the police, the military and other security agencies.

“The nation has lost four brave policemen and other aides of the Senator.

“On behalf of the government and the people, I pay homage to these security men and the aides who were brutally murdered. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families at this difficult time.”

The president has prayed for the quick recovery of the legislator and all those that sustained injuries.

The number one citizen has also prayed for the early restoration of peace and security in the affected State and all other areas.

The Informant247 observes that the convoy of Ubah was intercepted around 5pm on Sunday, near Nkwo Enugwu Ukwu Market, as it moved to Nnewi.

Close aides – Goodness Mathias and Obum Ikechukwu – and some security agents lost their lives at the scene.
