Buhari, Kwarans mourn late Chief of Staff, Adisa Logun

Tributes have poured in for the late Chief of Staff to the Kwara state governor who died on Tuesday at the state isolation centre, following coronavirus complications.

President Muhammadu Buhari, in a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Sheu, sympathised with the family of the deceased, the Ilorin Emirate and Kwara government, describing him as a dedicated public officer.

The statement read, “I just received the sad and unfortunate news on death of Alhaji Logun, a successful industrialist and consummate public intellectual. He was a passionate member of our party, APC, who worked for its progress at state and national levels.

“His death comes at a time his services were greatly needed by the party and government as part of our rebuilding efforts.’’

Also the Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described Logun as an industrialist, a public intellectual, and an elder statesman.

The Kwara Assembly speaker, Yakubu Salihu Danladi, in a statement by his spokesperson, Sherif Ibrahim, described the late Chief of Staff as a Kwaran who gave his all to the service of the State and its people, until his last breath.

He stated, “It is with heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, that we receive news of the demise of Alh. Aminu Adisa Logun, Chief of Staff to His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“Alh. Logun was a committed Kwaran, who gave his all to the service of our dear State until his last breath. His death is indeed a big blow on the government and people of Kwara state, as he departs this sinful world at a time his wealth of experience and expertise is required in moving the State forward.”

A former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in a statement issued by his aide, prayed that the rich life the late Chief of staff lived, the sympathy and prayers of many will help the family and loved ones through this difficult time.

Meanwhile, Ishaq Kawu Modibbo in a tribute message, said that everyone that had the opportunity to interact with the late Alhaji Aminu Adisa Logun, came away in awe at his intellect, affable personality and a sincere commitment to the progress of our community, and of our state.

He said, “We have therefore lost an accomplished individual, who touched lives; worked selflessly and never forgot the importance of collective labour, in the building of our state. For me personally, I have lost a real elder brother, with whom I shared truly enriching moments of debates and discussion, which gave me a full measure of his intellect, and passionate love for the betterment of our society.”

Another All Progressive Congress cheiftain, Saliu Mustapha, said, “I received the death of an elder-stateman, the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, Alh Aminu Adisa Logun with rude shock. Late Adisa Logun was an intellectual asset to this country, he was a freedom fighter that worked for the success of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state and at the national level.

“His death has created a huge vacuum in the state and in our party. It is my prayer that Almighty Allah will forgive his shortcomings and grant him aljanat fridaus.”

Chairman of Gobir Organisation Foundation, Waziri Yakubu Gobir, in a message released by his media office, placed on record the exemplary role the late Chief of Staff played as transition committee Chairman to mid-wife the the transition from the past administration to the present government, saying he served with verve and commitment.

“On this occasion of our collective grief, I condole with the. Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulu Gambari, CFR, the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, his family, friends and associates over the demise of Alhaji Logun.”

“I pray to Allah, to comfort his family, and beseech Him to accept the soul of our departed brother and grant him Aljanah Firdaus.”

A former gubernatorial aspirant, Otunba Oyabambi, in a statement issued, described the deceased as a dedicated technocrat who would be greatly missed by the state and the country at large.

Others who mourned the late Chief of Staff include, Ibrahim Oloriegbe; Lukman Mustapha, Mashood Mustapha; Kwara APC, Kwara PDP; Hakeem Lawal; Ahmed Ndakene; Musbau Esinrogunjo; Sherif Shagaya; among several others.
