Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday handed Manchester United their first home loss in the current season and first defeat in more than a year in the Premier League.
A 3-1 loss to Brighton at the Old Trafford has further laid a huge question of poor run of performance on the doorstep of the Erik Ten Hag led team.
Former Manchester United player, Danny Wellbeck opened the scoreline for the visitors inside 20 minutes- It’s a perfect homecoming message to the Reds at the stand.
The hosts were left dumbfounded when Pascal gross made it two for the visitors in the 53rd minutes. Earlier VAR denied United from leveling up in the 41st minutes when Hojland’s goal was ruled out.
Joao Pedro’s perfect placing would later make it three in the 71st mimutes for Brighton as he received a pass from Tariq Lamptey who had earlier set up Gross for the second goal.
However, a long range shot from Hannibal Mejri two minutes later was the only consolation for what already dejected and frustrated United fans had to take home.
The results leave United in yet another precarious position in the league while a glaring lack of coordination in the defense continues to hamper Ten Hag’s set-up. Another takeaway from the game was the reflection of Andre Onana struggling to find his best within the stick.
The Red devils have now lost three out of their five matches played so far this season. Only two wins laced with six goals scored and ten goals conceded. United currently seat 12th on the log with six points.
