Breaking: Ilorin General hospital discharges all patients as 2 allegedly tested positive for COVID-19
Two patients who are on admission at the Kwara State General Hospital in Ilorin have allegedly tested positive for the novel coronavirus, THE INFORMANT247 reports.
It was learnt that the authority of the hospital has ordered the discharge of all patients who are currently on admission.
As at the time our correspondent visited the hospital, relatives of the discharged patients were sighted leaving the facilities.
A relative of one of the patients who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the development adding that they were ordered to leave in order to carry out certain precautionary measures on the hospital.
“The news came to us as a shock but we cannot fight it, two patients tested positive for coronavirus. We are now moving our brother to a private facility so that he can continue his treatment,” he said.
An health worker at the hospital, who also pleaded anonymity, said the Accident and Emergency unit, Children Ward and some others units of the hospital were shut down.
However when contacted, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. AbdulKadir Ahmed, dropped his calls after our correspondent asked him to react to the news, and subsequent calls put to his line weren’t answered.
