BOA chair: Babangida’s son Muhammed accepts offer, denounces rejection ‘false reports’
Muhammed Babangida, the son of former military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), has officially confirmed his acceptance of the chairmanship position at the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), refuting recent claims that he declined the role as “false and malicious.”
In a press statement released on Monday, Babangida expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the trust he has placed in him, affirming his commitment to the appointment.
“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read.
This clarification follows widespread online claims that Babangida had rejected the position due to personal and professional reasons. He firmly denied these allegations, characterizing them as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and undermine the Tinubu administration.
“These reports are false and malicious. They are a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and tarnish the image of the President’s administration,” the statement added.
Babangida’s team pledged to identify and hold accountable those responsible for spreading the disinformation. “We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation.”
In conclusion, the statement urged Nigerians to stay vigilant and verify news from trustworthy sources. “We call on all citizens to remain discerning and verify information from credible sources to prevent the spread of misinformation,” it emphasized.
