Bayero’s visit will boost Kano, Ilorin Emirates relationship, says Gobir

The Waziri Karsa-Hausa of Ilorin Emirate, Alhaji Waziri Yakubu Gobir, on Thursday, commended the Kano Emir Aminu Ado Bayero’s visit to Ilorin, saying it will boost the already existing relationship between the two Emirates.

He described the relationship between the Emirs of Kano and Ilorin as family kinship which is significant to the unity and peaceful coexistence of the country.

Waziri made this statement on the arrival of the Kano’s Emir at the palace of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu Gambari.

Waziri, who was part of the Emirate delegation that received the Emir of Kano at the Ilorin International Airport, said there is no confusion about the identity of Ilorin people, saying Ilorin is the identity of the Ilorin people.

He further said Ilorin is a unique community with solid relationship with the North and South, revealing that Ilorin indigenes can comfortably become title holders and even traditional rulers in most part of the country.

He said, “The Emir’s visit to Ilorin, his maternal home, is a great step in boosting the relationship that exist between his family and the Ilorin Emirate, and also to build synergy on various issues of common interest.”

Gobir, however, urged leaders in the country to strengthen the unity among citizens and increase efforts in fighting the scourge of poverty which he said is a major challenge facing Nigeria and particularly Northern Nigeria.
