Barely 48 hours after marking 90th birthday, Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Olakulehin joins ancestors
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has passed away, marking a significant loss for the community.
According to Tribune Online, the revered monarch died in the early hours of Monday, July 7, 2025, just two days after celebrating his 90th birthday.
Born on July 5, 1935, Oba Olakulehin ascended the throne on July 12, 2024, following the death of his predecessor, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, who passed away at 81 on March 14, 2024.
He served as the 43rd Olubadan of Ibadanland for a little over a year, having received the staff of office from Oyo State Governor Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The community remembers him for his dedication to the people and his commitment to the cultural heritage of Ibadanland.
