Bandits storm Kwara South community, kidnap 3
At least three Fulani women were abducted in the early hours of Saturday when bandits invaded Awi village, a Fulani/Hausa settlement near Omu-Aran, under heavy gunfire.
The incident, which occurred around 1 a.m., was confirmed later that morning by a local community leader, Danbare Sarki Fulani, who reported the matter to authorities.
According to Zagazola, a local publication specialising in security reporting, the kidnapped victims have been identified as Halimi Kadiri, Gaaje Yusuf, and Maria Isah, a nursing mother. All three are reportedly of Fulani Bororo descent.
Following the report, a joint team of security operatives and local vigilantes was immediately mobilized to the area, combing nearby forests in a bid to track the bandits and secure the release of the abducted women.
Zagazola further reported that police sources confirmed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) based in Omu-Aran, along with Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from neighboring communities and local security outfits, have since launched a coordinated search-and-rescue operation.
