Bandits have reportedly kidnapped a number of students from the Federal University Gusau, located in Zamfara State. The abduction took place during the early hours of Friday.
According to Abubakar Sani, an indigene of Sabon Gida village, the bandits, numbering a substantial group, launched an attack on the off-campus residences of the university students in the village. Notably, most of the kidnapped students are females.
The banditry occurred at about 4:00 am on Friday, during which the attackers targeted three separate students’ hostels. Fortunately, some students managed to escape into the nearby bush.
Sani further revealed that while the bandits abducted university students, they did not take any residents of the village.
He said, “When they arrived in the village, they went straight to the students’ off-campus residences and began firing shots indiscriminately. They later broke into the campuses and abducted a number of students, most of whom are females.”
As of now, both the university authorities and the state police command have declined to comment on the situation, leaving concerns about the safety and well-being of the kidnapped students. In
