Mikel Arteta is happy with the ‘composure’ of his boys as they stage a come back to record a huge win over Westham on boxing day.

Arsenal, who were left frustrated with 1-0 down at Emirates Stadium at half-time after Said Benrahma’s penalty, came from behind thanks to goals from Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah.

Speaking after the game, Arteta expressed his delight over the performance of his boys and the result where former Coach Arsene Wenger watched from the stand.

“Yeah, for sure – really happy with their performance first of all, and then the results. And really the context of the game was that they were a goal up after a situation, a very single situation that they had attacked an open space where the referee decided to award their pen.

He believes that the fans also played a key part in the game saying ” And then you see the reaction of this crowd generating belief and just giving a lot of energy to the team”.

“The team showed, I think, in my opinion, a lot of composure, some real quality, as well as a lot of clarity to understand what the game demanded, and they executed really well”.

The Gunners are now seven points clear off Newcastle who sits behind them on the table with 33 points.

They will face Brighton Hove and Albion in their next game on Saturday.
