Nigerian Army eliminate IPOB ESN fighters during a raid of Ebonyi camps
The military, On Saturday, announced the elimination of ESN members during a raid on some identified locations of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) militia wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Exercise GOLDEN DAWN troops have raided the camps located within Ochokwu village in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
The officers were part of security personnel on protection duty for a campaign rally ahead of the Anambra poll.
It was reported that some fighters of the separatist organization were killed in a fierce firefight during the clearance operation on Friday.
During the clearance, arms and items recovered include AK-47 rifles, rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, magazines, Biafra flags, among others.
Ahead of the governorship election which was scheduled to hold on Saturday, November 6, security officers had been deployed to the state for peace and tranquility during the campaign rally.
