Apere declares for Ifelodun/Oyun/Offa federal constituency, seeks stakeholders’ backing

QS. Theophilus Ayodele Apere, a seasoned construction and infrastructure professional, has declared his intention to represent Ifelodun/Oyun/Offa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027.

Apere made the declaration at Monarchs Luxury Palace Hotel in Ganmon, Ifelodun, where he unveiled “The Ayo Apere Pact (2027–2031),” a comprehensive development blueprint aimed at transforming the constituency.

At the ceremony, which drew party stakeholders, community leaders, and supporters, Apere made a strong case for quality leadership.

“We must select leaders based on three things: competence, capacity, and character. These are what matter,” he said.

Apere’s development plan focuses on six key areas, with education as a priority. He pledged to reduce the number of out-of-school children by 50 per cent, renovate 30 public schools, supply 10,000 desks and learning materials, and establish vocational and ICT centres in Offa, Share, and Ilemona to equip youths with employable skills.

In healthcare, Apere plans to upgrade 30 primary healthcare centres, ensure 24-hour medical services in key facilities, and enrol 20,000 residents in health insurance schemes. He also pledged free maternal and child healthcare services.

“Healthcare should not be a luxury; it should be a right,” he said.

Infrastructure development ranks high on his agenda. He pledged to rehabilitate 50 kilometres of rural roads, provide electricity to 30 communities through solar power, and ensure access to clean water in 50 communities.

“Our people deserve basic infrastructure. We will deliver,” he said.

On security, Apere outlined plans to establish community security networks in all wards and strengthen collaboration with security agencies. He also emphasised youth engagement programmes to curb crime.

“A safe community is a productive community,” he added.

In agriculture, Apere pledged to support 5,000 farmers annually with seeds, fertilisers, and machinery. He also plans to establish processing centres to enable farmers to add value to their produce and increase income by 40 per cent.

For youth and women empowerment, he promised to train 5,000 individuals in vocational skills, support 2,000 small businesses with grants and soft loans, and create 2,000 jobs.

Beyond these programmes, Apere pledged transparency and accountability. He committed to quarterly town hall meetings to update constituents, equitable distribution of projects across wards, and open reporting of activities.

“You will know what I am doing and how I am spending resources. That is my promise,” he said.
Earlier, community leaders at the event expressed strong support for Apere’s candidacy.

Hon. Rauf Bello Labelabe praised Apere’s impact, describing him as a grassroots leader.

“Apere has been a success story in his hometown of Share and neighbouring communities. He has remained accessible to the needs of our people without holding any political office. He is the best candidate to represent Ifelodun/Oyun/Offa Federal Constituency,” Labelabe said.

Chief M.T. Lawal stressed the importance of zoning and Apere’s qualification.

“It is the turn of Ifelodun Local Government to represent the constituency at the National Assembly. We are not second-class citizens. Hon. Apere is an established figure even at the national level. He deserves our support,” he said.

On party unity, Labelabe appealed to other aspirants to work together.

“I appeal to other aspirants from Ifelodun Local Government to work as a team. There is no need for multiple contenders at the primaries. Hon. Apere remains our best option,” he said.

Beyond his professional credentials, Apere is known in his community as a quiet philanthropist. He has sponsored numerous children through school, supported community infrastructure projects, promoted youth sports, and provided healthcare assistance.

As Founder and Chairman of the Apere Family Foundation, he has established a platform for education support, youth empowerment, and economic opportunities.
