APC govs back removal of subsidy, blame marketers for scarcity, price hike
The All Progressives Congress (APC) governors under the aegis of Progressives Governors’ Forum on Friday, Abuja, blamed oil marketers for hoarding the petrol, saying they are deliberately inflicting pains on Nigerians with their actions.
The governors stated this during a courtesy visit to the President at the Presidential Villa.
Chairman of PGF and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, while addressing the newsmen in Abuja, condemned the price increase on what he described as “old stock” and called on Nigerians to rally behind the government’s decision to discontinue the payment of petrol subsidy.
Uzodinma, while declaring the governors’ support on the move, said the decision was approved by the Buhari administration, under the National Economic Council led by former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, when they realised that it was no longer possible to fund subsidy.
Friday’s meeting is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first official interaction with the governors of his party since he assumed office.
