Any move to incite youth to destabilize Nigeria will not be accepted, defence minister cautions Amaechi

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has criticized former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi for his call for protests against rising inflation and fuel prices.

In a recent interview, Amaechi, who also served as Minister of Transportation, expressed disappointment in Nigerian youths for not protesting the increasing cost of living and economic hardship in the country.

In response, the Ministry of Defence issued a statement on Saturday through its Director of Information and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, condemning Amaechi’s comments as reckless and irresponsible.

Matawalle, the former governor of Zamfara State, defended President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that the president has been working tirelessly to ensure peace and security across the nation.

He warned that any attempt to incite Nigerian youths to destabilize the country would not be tolerated and cautioned Amaechi against undermining the government’s efforts and intentions.

Matawalle further expressed disappointment in Amaechi’s stance, stating that it was expected of him to support the government in promoting peace and progress rather than casting aspersions on the president’s good intentions and inciting Nigerians against the administration.
