The Anambra police command has made a shocking arrest, detaining a 25-year-old man with a severed female breast in the Awada area of the state.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed in a statement on Sunday that the suspect, Samuel Eze, was apprehended on July 6 by a joint patrol team. The human remains have been recovered from the suspect and are currently at the morgue as investigations continue.
In another operation, police officers from the rapid response squad successfully rescued a kidnapped truck driver and confiscated goods valued at over N9.5 million.
The rescue took place at 12:45 PM on July 4, following a tip-off. Three suspects, identified as Udegenyi Ugochukwu, 38; Anayochukwu Okonkwo, 47; and Good Odigili, 47, were arrested in connection with this crime.
According to Ikenga, the suspects confessed to diverting a truck loaded with custard powder that was destined for Asaba in Delta state. They had tied the driver in the bush before redirecting the goods to Enugwu-Ukwu.
Additionally, the command reported the recovery of a suspected stolen vehicle, a custom-colored Toyota Sienna with registration number 736 JP, on July 5 while on patrol in Okpuno-Umuota village in Obosi. Ikenga encouraged anyone with proof of ownership to visit the command for verification and possible collection.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the command to maintain joint security patrols to combat insecurity in the state.
