Amid APC Crisis, AbdulRazaq endorses Danladi for Kwara governorship, deletes earlier Seriki endorsement

Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has thrown his weight behind the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi (SYD), amid the growing controversy surrounding the emergence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state.

The governor’s endorsement comes shortly after a fresh wave of internal disagreements within the Kwara APC, with a group of party elders rejecting Danladi’s candidacy and questioning the process that produced him as the party’s flag bearer.

In a statement posted on his official X handle, AbdulRazaq described Danladi as a “level-headed and progressive young man” capable of sustaining and consolidating the developmental strides recorded under the current administration.

The governor said his administration fully supports Danladi’s aspiration and expressed confidence in the Speaker’s ability to continue the transformation agenda across the state.

“I have every confidence in Engr. Salihu Yakubu Danladi as a level-headed and progressive young man who will consolidate on the gains of our administration,” the governor stated.

The endorsement comes at a time of heightened political discussions within the Kwara APC following disagreements over the party’s governorship ticket.

It also follows the removal of an earlier post on the governor’s X handle that was widely shared endorsing Ambassador Yahaya Seriki for the governorship race.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s latest statement publicly backing Danladi is his clearest expression of support for the Speaker’s candidacy since the ‘conclusion’ of the party’s governorship primary.

Governor AbdulRazaq also used the opportunity to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his leadership and continued support for Kwara State and the APC administration.
