Alleged N2.5bn fraud: Ogun Assembly impeaches speaker, elects Osoba’s loyalist

Following N2.5billion corruption charges bothering the alleged diversion of the assembly’s fund, Olakunle Oluomo, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has been impeached.

According to a report, Oluomo, representing the Ifo I constituency, was impeached by 18 out of 26 assembly members.

In his stead, Elemide Oludaisi, a loyalist of former Governor Olusegun Osoba, representing the Odeda constituency, has been elected the new speaker.

Elemide had earlier stepped down from the speakership race, paving for Oluomo’s re-election during the inauguration of the tenth assembly in June.
