Alleged Attack On Kwara APC’s Chair: Court Grants 11 Suspects Bail

An Ilorin Magistrate’s court yesterday granted bail to 11 persons who allegedly attacked the Kwara state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa and members of his entourage at Shao town in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara state.

The suspects are Adebayo Jimoh, Salman Amidu, Mahmud Afolabi, Olaofe Oladeji, Toyin Ayinla, Saka Mustapha, Abdulmumini Katibi, David Adebiyi, Salau Saka, Amori Rasaki and Saheed Suleiman.

They were arraigned on a six-count charge of criminal conspiracy, force, assault, causing grevious hurt, inciting disturbance and mischief contrary to Sections 97, 266, 243, 114 and 327 of the Penal Code Law.

Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki, however, granted the suspects bail in the sum of N200,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

The police prosecutor, Zacheaus Folorunsho, had told the court that the suspects allegedly attacked members of the state executives of APC during a visit to Shao with stones and other dangerous weapons, adding that the vehicle conveying the party officials was reportedly damaged while one Jimoh Saliu, Akanbi Rufiat and Ogunremi Akinjide also sustained injuries.

All the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.

Magistrate Dasuki adjourned the matter till April 22, 2020 for further mention.
