Akaniyene promises first year varsity scholarship to UTME best student
Mr Akaniyene Tommy, Chairman of Akwa Ibom’s Eket Local Government Area, has agreed to support Miss Matilda Wills’ first year of university study in Nigeria.
Miss Matilda Wills, a resident of Usung Inyang village in Eket Local Government Area, received an impressive 380 out of a possible 400 in the 2021/2022 post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Tommy complimented Matilda in his office on Tuesday for making her parents and the Local Government happy with such an accomplishment, which goes on to illustrate that the future is certainly bright and promising.
When she finished her admissions procedure, the Chairman affirmed that his administration would manage the first year of her university study.
He also gave her a monetary prize of N100,000 and urged her to always aspire for the top since everything was achievable with hard work and determination.
Dr. Emem Wills, Miss Wills’ father, responded by thanking the Council Chairman for receiving their daughter, as well as for the words of encouragement and the scholarship.
Wills expressed delight that Miss Matilda had brought joy to her parents and made the Local Government proud as a consequence of her academic achievements.
Miss Matilda Wills expressed gratitude to the Local Government Chairman for the honour bestowed upon her.
She committed to raise the flag of the Local Government in her academic endeavours as she seeks for admission to study Medicine and Surgery at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
