It’s an unpopular opinion to say that Amb. Akaje is one of the pilot of the train that brought the present administration into power for he’s not the type that visits radio, television or any other media house consistently. He’s a silent achiever, a benevolent stalwart and an enduring entity. Akaje contested in the primary election of the APC that saw Hon. Yekeen Alajagusi emerged as the flag bearer of the party in the 2019 general election to represent the resolute people of Ilorin west and ASA federal constituency.
Despite the fact that the primary election was marred with a lot of irregularities and inconsistencies. Akaje remains one of the few contestants that believed the primary election produced neither victors nor vanquished. Why? Because, providing the platform for an ordinary man to have a say in the decision making of the state, away from the caprices of the hegemony was/is his top priority. Akaje didn’t grumble after the primary election, he didn’t raise an eyebrows towards the general Election, he was supportive towards every candidates presented by the party in every of his capacities and capabilities.
The young, versatile and dedicated man has been playing the game differently as to what his counterparts in the struggle are known for. He never complained of the current sheriff in the state, he has neither be in any feud with the party faithfuls whatsoever. Few months ago, The Governor of Kwara state, Alhaji Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq inaugurated a committee to oversee the cleanliness and friendliness of our dear state, amongst the member was the young ambassador, he took the assignment jauntily against the impression of so many people in the circus for they believed Akaje deserves more than been in such committee.
Vividly, I could recall, he told me after he was assigned as part of the committee that ” who cares which capacity I’ll be serving, so far it’s in anyway related to the development of this state, I’ll be fulfilled”. Statements like this is an uncommon one on the lips of young politicians, especially when we have seen some youths likened themselves to the the immediate past president of the senate. Laughable!
If anybody reading this piece have got a little intimacy with his or her radio, then, you’ll know the desperation of our youths in politics. Some of them were accused of collecting money from political bigwigs in the state, some were accused of breeding thugs, some were accused of disruption of public peace in the state. That’s how lowly and dirty our youths have gone, but, I must tell you, not even for once has anybody been able to indict him of any Indecorous act. He’s that upright! Trutrh needs no witness and as such I need no muscle to sound it that Ambassador Akaje Ibrahim is a philanthropist in his capacity, his oratory prowess is well documented, his adjudicating ability is one which is well recognized, a great tactician he is.
Ibrahim is a personality so free of immoral acts, so determined and resilient. I cannot but acknowledged one of the blessings the Almighty has gifted to us in Kwara state. So, I say Ambassador Ibrahim Akaje is a symbol of Hope and may he never be hopeless.
I do hope the system will pave way for people with the ability and character to be part of our developmental decisions for that will guarantee peculiarity in our developmental plans.
