Again, Kwara govt disagrees with NCDC on number of coronavirus cases
Kwara State Government has disagreed with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control – NCDC over another 9 new cases it recorded for it on the agency’s portal.
On Friday, the NCDC has confirmed that Kwara has recorded another 7 new cases in addition to existing 66 cases.
However, the Kwara state government in an infographic posted on Twitter gave the number of new cases as 9, bringing the total to 75, instead of the NCDC’s 73.
On April 18, the NCDC had confirmed that Kwara recorded another 7 new cases in addition to existing 58 cases.
However, the Governor’s spokesperson, Rafiu Ajakaye, Speaking to THE INFORMANT247 claimed that there was “an error from the NCDC,” noting that only 5 new case of the infection was recorded.
He said that the results of two additional samples were repeated tests of cases already recorded.
Ajakaye added that the NCDC will correct the mistake.
However, the NCDC, on May 19, apologised only to the Zamfara State Government – ignoring the Kwara State Government – for errors in the reported number of cases in the state and further reiterated its commitment to giving accurate and transparent data.
Consequently, the Kwara State Government would later adjust the figure to meet up with the NCDC data – in another updated infographic.
