Again, court issues bench warrant against former Harmony Holdings boss
The Kwara State Magistrate court has again issued a bench warrant for the arrest of former Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Harmony Holdings company, Abdulmajeed Abdullahi over his continued disobedience to appear in court for his trial.
It will be recalled that the pioneer GMD of the Kwara-owned company, Adebayo Sanni had dragged the former GMD to court for allegedly defaming his character by allegedly calling him unprinted names and accusing him of being on Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) wanted list of 170million fraud.
During the proceedings today, counsel representing Sanni, Nurudeen Adegboye, moved an application, praying court to issue bench warrant against the defendant (former GMD) over his several absence in court.
The counsel urged court to invoke the power vested in the court under section 138 and 137 (1a) of the Adminstration of Criminal Justice Law, Kwara State, 2018 to compel the defendant’s compulsory appearance.
The defendant’s legal representative, R.I Abdulraheem, informed the court that she couldn’t explain why her client failed to show course having discussed the date of the proceedings with him earlier.
She added that she called him severally but his line was not reachable pleading court to give his client last chance and also promising that she will ensure he’s present at the next adjourned date.
Magistrate Hafusat Alege who is presiding over the matter, ruled, granting Sanni’s counsel application and issued bench warrant against Nurudeen Abdulmajeed while the matter is adjourned to 6th October , 2025.
