Again, Buhari reacts to naira crisis, declares open support for Tinubu

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted one more time to the lingering scarcity of the new naira notes and the controversy it has generated across Nigeria.

The Nigerian leader on Sunday persuaded the people to be more patient over crisis triggered by the cashless policy put forward by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The President on Sunday, February 19, 2023 acknowledged that he’s aware of the pain and the inconvenience that the policy has brought upon the people, reaffirming that the policy was for the common good of the people and the development of the economy.

The commander-in-chief of all armed forces made this appeal in a video recording from Ethiopia where he graced the just concluded summit organised by the African Union.

The president said, “I am appealing to you to exercise further patience as we take appropriate measures to ease these hardships. God willing, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.”

This was revealed in a statement made available by the presidential media aide, Garba Shehu on Sunday, February 19, 2023 and which was titled ‘In a video to sway voters for Tinubu President Buhari vows end to current hardship.’

He implored the people of the country to cast their votes for the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Tinubu.

Buhari said, “I want to once again assure you that I am fully aware of the current hardship you are facing as a result of some policies of the government which are meant to bring overall improvement to the country.

“I am appealing to you to exercise further patience as we take appropriate measures to ease these hardships. God willing, there will be light at the end of the tunnel.”

While campaigning for the presidential candidate, the president said, “he is reliable and I know he will build on our achievements.”

“I am not a contestant in this election, but my party, the All Progressives Congress, has a candidate in the person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“As I mentioned before, Tinubu is a true believer in Nigeria, who loves the people and the development of our country.

“I am calling on all of you to vote for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. He is reliable and I trust he will build on our achievements.”
