Again, bandits storm Kwara community, kidnap POS operator — second attack in 24 hours
Barely 24 hours after the kidnap of a prominent businessman in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, bandits have again abducted a well-known POS operator identified as Yman in another attack on the same community.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday at about 10 p.m.
A local source told The Informant247 that the bandits invaded the town, heavily armed with guns.
“We didn’t expect that the bandits would attack again because they were around just this midnight, and we are still reeling from that pain.
“They came again around 10:00 p.m. (Sunday). They usually come well-armed. This time, unlike the midnight, there was no resistance by the local hunters. So, no exchange of gunfire,” he said.
There is no comment either from the state government or the state police command at the time of filing this report.
The Informant247 had earlier reported that there was palpable tension in the town in the early hours of Sunday when bandits invaded, kidnapping a prominent agro-chemical dealer popularly known as Alhaji Chemical.
During the incident, which occurred around 1 a.m. (Saturday), there was an exchange of gunfire between the bandits and local hunters who tried to repel the attack.
A local, who spoke to The Informant247 under anonymity, revealed that the bandits invaded the community, after which they stormed the victim’s residence around Taiwo Road in Lafiagi, shooting to create panic before taking him away.
The abduction comes barely a week after a deadly attack on Lile village in Patigi Local Government Area, where people were killed by bandits.
They thereafter demanded a N200 million levy from the community or threatened another ferocious attack.
