After INFORMANT247 report, Kwara govt accepts Foundation’s support on road rehabilitation
The Kwara State Government has rescinded its controversial decision rejecting a Foundation’s proposal to grade the road linking Kankatu-Amule-Shamsu een in Ilorin East Local Government Area barely three hours after THE INFORMANT247 published the report.
Our correspondents learnt that following the report titled – Kwara govt rejected our request to repair dilapidated road – published earlier today, August 11, 2020, the governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and commissioner for works, Suleiman Iliasu contacted the CEO of the foundation to give approval to the proposal.
The report had detailed how a letter forwarded to the Kwara State Ministry of Works seeking the government’s approval for the grading of the road link for the conveniency of the commuters was rejected.
According to the report, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry told the Foundation that the road is a government property and it should be rehabilitated by the government and not private individuals.
However, our correspondent learnt that the Governor, who was not happy when he read about the development, promised to be at the flaggoff.
The Foundation’s spokesperson, Mansur Kolawole told our correspondent that the Governor called the Foundation’s CEO, Tajudeen Olesin to give a nod to the proposal, and commend the Foundation’s stride.
“The commissioner has approved the project to commence nextweek Tuesday. Also, the Governor promised to be at the flaggoff,” Kolawole stated.
