Accident burns 7 persons to death, injures 7 others in Ogun
An accident along Sagamu-Benin expressway has burnt 7 persons to death, while 7 other persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
The accident was confirmed in a statement released by Florence Okpe, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson, on behalf of Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar.
The spokesperson stated that, “the fatal crash occurred at about 1500hrs along Ijebu-Ode expressway some metres after Odogbolu.
She revealed that, “a total of 15 persons were involved in the crash, 07 were injured while 07 persons were burnt beyond recognition”.
The spokeswoman narrated that the lone accident affected a Mazda bus having as AGL886YD as registration number.
She blamed the suspected causes of the accident on overspeeding and mechanical fault which led to fire outbreak.
The spokesperson said, the injured victims were hospitalized to General Hospital, Ijebu-Ode.
Umar while sending message of condolence on the bereaved families, has advised car users to do away with overspeeding, especially “this period of high motorization and also pay attention on vehicle routine check to detect any fault on time.
